Adobe has launched a new version of its Firefly app, which now acts as a single platform for generating images, videos, audio, and vector graphics using artificial intelligence. Unveiled at the MAX London conference, the updated Firefly app relies on Adobe’s latest AI models, Firefly Image Model 4 and Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra, alongside third-party AI tools such as Gemini and ChatGPT. This redesign is meant to help users produce more realistic and detailed content with improved control over the creative process.
The core of the new app is Adobe’s advanced image models, which support higher resolution and give users greater flexibility. Users can fine-tune elements like lighting, structure, and perspective, and produce images in 2K quality. With these features, Adobe aims to give creators the power to generate high-quality images based on text prompts while allowing more options for customisation.
Adobe has also expanded Firefly’s video capabilities. The new Firefly Video Model, now widely available, can create 1080p video from text prompts or reference images. Users can adjust details such as motion and camera angles, and set specific start and end frames, making it easier to create video content that matches their vision.
Another important update is the integration of third-party AI models, allowing users to access tools from providers like OpenAI, Google Cloud, and Flux directly within Firefly. More options from companies like Pika, Luma, and Runway will be added soon. Each piece of AI-generated content comes with Content Credentials, a digital label showing which AI model was used. This aims to keep the process transparent and help users trust the source of their creations.
In addition to the main app, Adobe has introduced Firefly Boards, now available as a public beta. Firefly Boards work like digital mood boards, helping users explore creative ideas and organise them for collaboration. The new Firefly app and its features are available globally on the web and are integrated into popular Adobe tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Express.
