The Flux 1 Kontext models come in two versions: Flux.1 Kontext [pro] and Flux.1 Kontext [max]. The pro version enables users to generate an image and refine it through multiple turns, maintaining character consistency and style throughout the process. The max version, on the other hand, focuses on speed, consistency, and better adherence to prompts. While these models cannot be downloaded for offline use, Black Forest Labs is offering an open model, Flux.1 Kontext [dev], for research and safety testing in a private beta.
In addition to the models, the company has launched a model playground, allowing users to try the Flux.1 Kontext models without signing up for third-party services. New users are provided with 200 credits, enough to generate approximately 12 images with the pro version. This launch is part of Black Forest Labs’ ongoing expansion, which includes offering enterprise-focused services and an API. The company, which is backed by notable investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Oculus co-founder Brendan Iribe, and Y Combinator’s Garry Tan, has made strides since emerging from stealth last year.
