Elon Musk's AI Grok

Elon Musk’s AI Can now See the World and Talk in Real-Time

Elon Musk’s xAI has introduced two new features to its Grok AI chatbot, marking another step forward in the race to build more interactive and human-like AI assistants.

Elon Musk’s xAI has introduced two new features to its Grok AI chatbot, marking another step forward in the race to build more interactive and human-like AI assistants. The first new feature, called Grok Vision, allows users to share their camera feed with Grok. This gives the chatbot the ability to see and understand the environment around the user, making interactions more dynamic and context-aware. Although screen sharing is not yet available, Grok Vision is now rolling out on the iOS app.

Alongside vision, xAI has added real-time multilingual voice support to Grok. Users can now have voice conversations with Grok in several local and global languages, making the chatbot more accessible and personal. These updates are part of xAI’s broader aim to position Grok as a versatile personal assistant that can adapt to users’ daily needs.

For Android users, the latest version of the Grok app brings multilingual audio chat and real-time search but does not yet include Grok Vision. Access to these new features on Android requires a subscription to the SuperGrok plan, priced at $30 per month. This pricing puts Grok in a premium segment of the AI chatbot market, contrasting with some competitors that offer similar capabilities at no extra cost.

The push to add vision and voice capabilities is now a growing trend among major AI developers. OpenAI introduced camera sharing, live audio, and screen sharing for ChatGPT in late 2024, giving users more ways to interact with AI. Google also launched Project Astra within Gemini, letting its AI see both the screen and the surroundings. Notably, Google made this feature free for all Android users, making advanced AI features more widely accessible.

These rapid developments reflect a broader shift in AI technology towards more immersive and personalised experiences. As AI chatbots gain new senses and languages, users can expect even closer integration between digital assistants and daily life, raising both opportunities and questions about privacy, usability, and the future of human-AI interaction
