Google AI Virtual Try-On Lets You See How Clothes Fit on Your Body

Google is taking online shopping to a new level with a fresh artificial intelligence feature that lets users virtually try on clothes. After testing it for two months, the company has officially rolled it out in the United States. Users can now upload a full-length photo of themselves and see how they might look in specific outfits when browsing through Google Search, Shopping, or even Google Images. This isn’t Google’s first attempt at virtual try-ons, but unlike earlier versions that showed clothes on different body types, this new feature tailors the experience to the user’s own body, making it more personal and realistic.

This launch is part of a broader push by Google into AI-driven shopping tools. Just last month, the company released Doppl, an experimental app that goes even further. It uses similar AI technology to help users explore different styles and curate their own personal look. Doppl even creates videos so users can get a sense of how the outfit would move and look in real life. While Doppl is more about self-expression and deeper exploration of fashion choices, the new try-on feature keeps things simple and accessible directly from Google’s main platforms.

Alongside this, Google has also introduced a smarter price alert system. Shoppers in the United States can now set alerts not just for items in general, but also for specific sizes, colours, and price points. This means if you are watching a particular dress or pair of trainers, Google can notify you the moment it drops to your chosen price. It saves users the hassle of constantly checking back or missing out on a deal. With its Shopping Graph tracking prices across 50 billion products, Google’s system is well-positioned to offer timely and accurate updates.

Looking ahead, Google has more features in the pipeline. Later this year, it plans to release a tool that helps users visualise complete outfits or even design inspiration for rooms. For example, you could search for a “green dress for a garden party,” and the system would not only suggest clothing, but also put together full looks using generative AI. Similarly, typing in a home decor idea could return a curated selection of styled rooms, along with links to purchase the featured products.

All these updates reflect Google’s growing ambition to blend online shopping with the creativity of generative AI. The goal is to make shopping more engaging, more personal, and easier than ever before. As people become more comfortable using AI to shape their daily choices, features like these could soon become standard for how we browse, shop, and plan our lives.
