Meta is stepping up its push into AI advertising with the launch of a tool that creates video adverts automatically using just product images. The system lets businesses upload up to 20 photos, which the AI then turns into short video clips, complete with background music and text overlays. The goal is to reduce production time and cost, especially for small businesses that cannot afford full video production teams.
This tool is part of Meta’s larger ambition to automate the entire ad creation process by 2026. The company plans to let advertisers simply submit a product image and budget, leaving the AI to manage everything else from writing the ad copy to selecting the target audience and optimising spend. This kind of automation could be a game-changer for firms with limited marketing capacity, offering a straightforward path to professional-looking campaigns.
The move comes as competition in AI-powered advertising heats up, with companies like Google, TikTok, and Snapchat also introducing automated marketing tools. While the benefits of speed and ease are clear, some advertisers have raised concerns about losing creative control and ensuring brand consistency when relying on AI systems.
Beyond video ads, Meta’s broader AI ad strategy includes products like AI Sandbox for generating promotional images and Advantage Plus for automating ad placement and bidding. The company also introduced a tool called Movie Gen that animates static images, pointing to Meta’s growing interest in more dynamic and engaging formats.
If Meta’s AI tools prove effective, they could change the way digital marketing works by putting high-quality ad production in the hands of everyone from solo entrepreneurs to large brands. The focus is not just on automation, but on ensuring that results are measurable and that ads remain relevant to online audiences.
